Three courses is not many strings for a chord, and that scarcity is the style: a tres almost never holds a chord still — it spells the harmony as a guajeo, a repeating two-bar figure that arpeggiates the changes note by note while the rest of the band supplies the block chords. A voicing here is really a set of stations the figure passes through.
